Two 1000 Series E-Cranes are operating at the new scrap yard at the steel plant of ArcelorMittal in Bremen, Germany. There are different types of scrap to be used in the steel mill.
Until now, ArcelorMittal coudn’t seperate these different types. Scrap logistics was limited to only a few boxes and wagons. Now, the crane operator automatically receives the required program and then he provides the correct composition into the scrap trays.
Project Manager Nils Masemann explains how they do it.
The new equilibrium crane, manufactured by E-Crane International, handles a variety of bulk materials. The crane has an outreach of 35m, grabbing capability of 21 tons and lift capacity of 28 tons.Mounted on a rail-bound gantry, the crane is electrically powered and benefits include low energy consumption compared to other materials handling machines. It also offers smooth crane movements and high operator comfort.
