Successful installation second E-Crane® at Icdas, Turkey
End 2009 the final testing and tuning of the second E-Crane at İÇDAŞ took place, succesfully completing the E-Crane’s installation.
In 2008 the first E-Crane was installed at İÇDAŞ, to be followed a year later, beginning November 2009, by an identical 1500B Series type 9317B-CRD E-Crane on high gantry.
End November the testing and tuning of the E-Crane took place. After completion of several hydraulic and electrical settings, the testing and tuning part of the installation was finished by performing an overload test. A 14 tons test weight was moved over the entire operating range (140% overload). No shortcomings were found to the crane’s stability.
While performing the static test we could establish that after 50 minutes the 14 tons load was still hanging at the same height above ground level. Once this test was done, we could attach the grab and drive the crane to its work spot at the receiving dock. Driving the crawler based crane went very smoothly, the crane operator could easily manoeuvre this giant machine through the obstacles along the way, to finally be connected to the electricity network via a long power supply cable at its place of work (the scrap receiving dock).
Once the job was finished the first scrap was grabbed by the new E-Crane and unloaded in the provided dump containers. ince the client for more than a year already operated an E-Crane, that currently already has 6249 hr of operation, there was only minimal training to be given. Some extra tips and pointers were given during the unloading of the first ship. The new E-Crane was taken into service on 18th November 2009.
Thanks to the excellent cooperation between our erection team and İÇDAŞ‘ Technical Staff, this E-Crane installation went very smoothly once more. Big thanks to İÇDAŞ for their help and hospitality, we wish them a succesful 2010!
