Van Oord commissions Titan and Astrachan

Rotterdam, March 28 2013 – On 27 March 2013, Van Oord held a ceremony commissioning crane vessel Titan and accommodation pontoon Astrachan. The honours were done by Mrs E. (Lily) de Wit – wife of Area Director F. (Freek) de Wit – and Mrs M. (Michele) Kamsteeg, wife of Area Manager M.C. (Ries) Kamsteeg. The order to build Titan and Astrachan was awarded to Holland Shipyards in Hardinxveld Giessendam, the Netherlands in October 2012. Blockbuster Disassembly Has Begun

Friday, January 18th, the first steps of the Blockbuster disassembly began at the Port of Rotterdam. The main boom was first to be removed with the help of two on-site cranes. After several other components of the heavily modified E-Crane were disassembled, pieces of the Blockbuster were loaded for transport. In 2012 E-Crane saw another great year for new orders. GenOn Energy, Inc. purchased a 700 Series / Model 4248 E-Crane for their plant in Newburg, Maryland. GenOn is an energy company that provides electricity to customers throughout the United States. The new 700 Series E-Crane will be used to unload gypsum brought in by rail cars  The gypsum will be deposited into a hopper where the material will be transported back to the plant by conveyor. 700 Series E-Crane Feeding Shredder at Nucor Steel

A 700 Series, Model 4264 E-Crane was recently installed at Nucor Steel Jackson in Flowood, Mississippi for the purpose of feeding auto-bodies into a shredder. The E-Crane replaced an old Seram crane that had been previously feeding the shredder. The new E-Crane has a duty cycle capacity of 6 US tons (5.5 metric tons) and an outreach of 86 feet (26 meters).
