The Challenge: Reducing Costs While Increasing Productivity
CCB faced rising repair costs, poor equipment reliability, and declining productivity in its bulk material handling operation. The company needed to modernize its facility quickly to remain operational while reducing operating costs. At the same time, it wanted to simplify the material flow and eliminate unnecessary equipment wherever possible.
“The excellent reliability and performance of the E-Crane has helped us to reduce cost and increase the capacity of our terminal.”
Mr. Deceur, Project Manager, CCB
The Solution: One E-Crane Replacing Multiple Material Handling Functions
E-Crane supplied a 700 Series equilibrium crane (Model 6208 CR-D) travelling on a low portal gantry mounted on crawlers. Thanks to its long outreach and large stock-out area, the crane not only unloads barges and feeds multiple hoppers but also eliminates the need for additional hoppers and conveyor belts. The crawler-mounted gantry allows the crane to manoeuvre easily along the dock and within the confined spaces of the terminal.
