The Challenge:
Replacing an Aging Barge Unloading System
Cargill Fertilizer needed to reduce operating costs and increase the volume handled by its barge offloading operation at Port Cargill. For years, the facility had relied on a conventional cable crane with a rope-operated bucket to unload bulk materials from barges. Increasing safety concerns, rising repair costs, and poor equipment reliability made it clear that the existing system needed to be replaced. Cargill therefore required a dependable bulk material handling solution that could support higher productivity while improving the efficiency of the overall operation.
“The E-Crane is a key piece of equipment in the improvement of our Port Cargill facility. This crane combined with a planned upgrade for the hopper and conveyors will substantially improve the productivity of Port Cargill.”
