Maintaining High Productivity Across Changing River Levels

Beelman River Terminals needed an efficient bulk handling solution for its new Venice facility on the Mississippi River. The unloading system had to perform consistently despite the full range of changing river levels, without negatively affecting unloading cycle times. With material transferred directly from barges to trucks, productivity also had to remain high while operators maintained precise control during unloading and clean-up. The new operation therefore required a reliable crane configuration specifically engineered around the conditions and layout of the terminal.

The Solution:
Purpose-Built for Fast and Precise Barge Unloading

E-Crane engineered a dedicated bulk unloading solution around the specific requirements of the Beelman facility. The installation combines high-capacity material handling with a configuration designed to maintain consistent unloading performance as river levels change, while also simplifying barge clean-up.

The solution includes:

A 2000 Series / 15317 PD-E E-Crane with 104 ft / 31.7 m reach, engineered specifically for Beelman River Terminals.
A 19 yd³ / 15 m³ hydraulic grab with a 22 UStons / 20 Mtons lift capacity, providing high-capacity handling of coal and coke.
A fixed pedestal mounted directly to four piles, combined with a barge-mounted receiving hopper captive between dolphins, allowing the system to accommodate the full range of river levels without affecting unloading cycle time.
A 600-hp / 450 kW electric motor and powered grab rotator, supporting productive unloading and precise barge clean-up, including material remaining in corners.
