The Challenge:
Maximizing Scrap Handling Capacity on Less Than Two Acres
American Shredder operates within a compact scrap yard with less than two acres of land, making efficient use of available space essential. The facility also uses a high-infeed shredder with a scrap chute, rather than a conventional low-infeed belt, requiring a material handler capable of reaching and feeding the elevated shredder. At the same time, the machine needed to provide operators with clear visibility and precise control when positioning scrap. American Shredder also wanted to reduce the operating and maintenance costs associated with conventional diesel-powered, traveling material handlers.
The Solution:
Stationary Scrap Handling with Maximum Reach
American Shredder selected a fixed E-Crane configuration capable of serving both the scrap pile and shredder from a single position. This eliminates the need for the machine to travel while taking advantage of the E-Crane’s reach, elevated operator position, precise controls, and electric drive.
