The Challenge:
Maintaining High Coal Loading Rates in Challenging Offshore Conditions
KMJ needed a high-capacity floating solution for transferring coal from barges into large ocean-going vessels at the Muara Berau outer anchorage. Offshore conditions create an additional challenge, as wave heights can restrict crane operation and reduce the available loading window. The equipment therefore needed to combine high loading capacity with stable operation, reliability, and efficient energy use. Maintaining productivity in conditions that can force conventional rope cranes to stop operating would provide KMJ with an important competitive advantage.
“E-Crane gives us a distinct competitive advantage! Faster cycle times, more stable operation, lower fuel consumption and less coal spillage.”
The Solution:
Stable and Efficient Floating Coal Transshipment
KMJ selected a floating E-Crane configuration designed for high-volume coal transshipment in demanding offshore conditions. Following the successful performance of the first machine, the company expanded the operation with a second identical unit.
