The Challenge:
Maximizing Flexibility Across the Entire Yard
ZHD needed additional material handling and lifting capacity while maintaining the flexibility required for a diverse stevedoring operation. The new crane had to cover the entire yard and travel with a load attached, rather than being restricted to a fixed working position. ZHD also wanted the ability to use the same machine for offshore vessel unloading and at its other material handling facilities. This called for a highly mobile solution capable of handling stainless steel scrap and supporting a wide range of loading and unloading activities.
“We want our facilities to be the most flexible and universal material handling operation in the area. Our goal is to offer our customers fast, economical, reliable, and the most flexible services possible. With the addition of the E-Crane®, we are able to do this.”

The Solution:
Mobile Scrap Handling Without Compromise
E-Crane provided ZHD with a crawler-mounted equilibrium crane designed around the terminal’s need for mobility and operational versatility. The configuration allows the same machine to work throughout the yard, support vessel operations, and even be transported by water when additional handling capacity is required at another ZHD facility.
