The Challenge:
Maintaining High-Volume Coal Unloading with Maximum Availability
Balikpapan Coal Terminal handles coal arriving by barge from Bayan Resources’ different mine sites before it is transported to stockpile and ultimately loaded into large ocean-going vessels. The unloading operation therefore requires equipment capable of handling large volumes of coal efficiently and consistently. The E-Cranes typically unload 8,000 DWT deck barges, making both high throughput and dependable equipment availability essential to maintaining material flow through the terminal. Given the intensive operating schedule, Bayan also needed a maintenance strategy capable of supporting long-term crane performance and minimizing unplanned downtime.
“Next Generation Coal Handling has come to Balikpapan!”
The Solution:
High-Capacity Coal Unloading Backed by Full Maintenance Support
Bayan Resources implemented two E-Cranes as part of the coal unloading operation at Balikpapan Coal Terminal. The installation combines high-capacity barge unloading with local maintenance support designed to keep both machines consistently available.
