The Challenge: Simplifying a Complex Cargo Transfer Operation
Before installing the E-Crane, Carver Marine relied on four traditional ship cranes operated by a crew of eight or nine people to offload cargo from ships into barges. Managing multiple cranes made the operation complex, requiring numerous moving parts and increased coordination. Carver wanted a safer, more efficient solution that could also move easily between ships and operating locations while minimizing downtime.
“Previously, we used four ship cranes to offload the cargo into barges. That’s a lot of moving parts. Now with the E-Crane, all those moving parts are condensed down into one state-of-the-art machine that’s able to work in a much more safe and efficient manner.”
The Solution: One Mobile E-Crane Replacing Four Conventional Ship Cranes
E-Crane supplied a 3000C Series equilibrium crane travelling on a high rail portal mounted on a barge, creating a highly flexible bulk handling solution that can operate as a midstream transfer station or alongside a dock. Powered by an onboard generator and supported by a dedicated mechanical facility on the barge, the installation minimizes downtime while providing operators with excellent visibility from a comfortable, ergonomic cab.
