The Challenge:
Modernizing Woodchip Unloading for Higher Reliability and Production
Georgia Pacific’s existing ship unloading crane had become difficult to maintain and was ready to be replaced with a modern hydraulic solution. The new crane needed to efficiently unload jumbo barges of wood chips into the mill’s existing hopper while improving production rates, safety, and reliability. Because the crane would remain stationary on the dock, sufficient outreach was essential to reach across the entire 78-ft width of the woodchip barges, at both high and low water elevations. The project also required the new machine to be integrated with the existing infrastructure while minimizing unnecessary changes to the dock.
“Things are going extremely well. The operators are happy, and the new E-Crane is performing well, exceeding expectations. I enjoyed working with E-Crane and I expect that you guys will continue to grow..”
