The Challenge:
Moving Scrap 43 Meters Up Without Hundreds of Truck Loads
IÇDAŞ needed an efficient way to transfer large volumes of scrap from the steel mill harbor to a scrap loading station positioned more than 43 m (141 ft) higher. The demanding application required a combination of exceptional outreach, high duty cycle capacity, and continuous availability in the extremely harsh and dusty environment of the Biga steel mill. Using conventional transport would require hundreds of heavy-haul truck loads every day, adding complexity to the scrap logistics between the port and the steel mill. IÇDAŞ therefore needed a high-capacity solution capable of making this substantial vertical and horizontal transfer directly.
The Solution:
Direct Scrap Transfer from Harbor to Steel Mill
Building on IÇDAŞ’s experience with its first two E-Cranes, E-Crane developed a much larger machine specifically for this demanding scrap logistics application. The fixed-pedestal installation creates a direct material handling link between the harbor and the elevated scrap loading station.
