The Challenge:
Keeping a 5,000-hp Mega-Shredder Continuously Supplied
MetalX needed a material handling solution capable of supporting its new high-capacity scrap processing yard and 5,000-hp mega-shredder. With more than 500,000 tons of material expected to move through the operation each year, the crane needed to efficiently stockpile large volumes of scrap while maintaining a continuous supply to the shredder. Extensive reach and high stockpiling capability were particularly important to maximize the amount of material available around the machine. The new solution also needed to provide operators with precise, user-friendly control in a demanding scrap handling environment.
“The E-Crane is the most impressive piece of equipment I have operated: from its long 100-plus feet of reach and massive grapple that will stack scrap over 90 feet, to its user friendly controls.”
Tyler Inbody – Operator, MetalX
“We developed a collaborative relationship with team members of E-Crane through the early planning stages of our mega scrap processing yard in Delta, OH. E-Crane’s commitment to quality during design and fabrication including installation and service has been outstanding.”

The Solution:
High-Capacity Scrap Stockpiling and Shredder Feeding
MetalX selected a stationary E-Crane configuration designed to keep large volumes of scrap within reach of the shredder. The combination of long outreach, high stockpiling capability, and a large hydraulic grapple allows the crane to efficiently support both material storage and shredder feeding from a single position.
